The most famous pilgrimage destination in Kerala is Sabarimala.
The Sabarimala pilgrimage begins in the month of November and ends in January and attracts pilgrims from all parts of the country and abroad. A lot of pilgrims go to Sabarimala from Hyderabad every year.
Mandalapooja (Nov.17th) and Makaravilakku (Jan.14th) are the two main events of the pilgrim season. The temple stays closed during the rest of the year except for the first five days of every Malayalam month and during Vishu (April).
Pilgrims set out in groups under a leader, and each carry a cloth bundle called “Irumudi kettu” containing traditional offerings. The easiest route is via Chalakkayam, by which one can reach the banks of the river Pamba by vehicle. Pamba is the main halting point on the way to Sabarimala. From here one has to trek 4 to 5 kms to reach the temple.
Temple closes, after the season, on 20-01-2009. This is immediately after the Pandalam Royal Representatives pay obeisance to the Lord at 0700 hrs on 20-01-2009

How to reach Pampa
By Rail:
The pilgrims can reach Kottayam & Chengannur by Railway and Punalur and from there by bus to Pampa.
KSRTC has started operating buses to Palani and Thenkashi from Pampa for the convenience of the Sabarimala pilgrims. Besides, the Govt. of Tamil Nadu has been given the permission to operate 20 buses from different parts of Tamil Nadu to Pampa. A chain service exists between Pampa and Nilackal base camp.

SABARIMALA: Thousands of Sabarimala pilgrims were affected by the rain that lashed the area on Sunday.
�Though the intensity of the rain was low in the morning, it became� moderate to heavy rain in the evening, causing severe hardships to the pilgrims at Sannidhanam and on the trekking path.
�Pilgrims found it difficult to climb the hillock as the trekking path between Pampa and Marakkoottam became slippery. The pilgrims who suffered the worst were the ones who took the queue path between Marakkoottam and Saramkuthi where the surface of the road was not levelled till date.
�In addition, the ongoing construction of the queue complex near at Saramkuthi, undertaken by the Travancore Devaswom Board, affected the flow of pilgrims owing to the bad shape of the road consequent up on the dumping of the building materials.

Though the TDB has constructed roof for the three-fourth of the stretch of the trekking path between Pampa and Marakkoottam, it failed� the pilgrims who stand in long queues by not taking steps to construct roof for the entire stretch. Hence, the pilgrims are forced to suffer the hardships caused by the rain.
Swami Ayyappan Road
The renovated Swami Ayyappan Road linking Pampa and Marakkoottam was closed for tractor traffic owing to the slushy surface of the road. If the rain continues, the closure of the road for tractor traffic will affect the supply of raw materials for the prasadam, essential items for� free food, especially vegetables at Sannidhanam.
The demolition of the majority of 50-odd pilgrim shelters at Pandithavalam put the pilgrims in deep trouble owing to the lack of resting place. The pilgrims, who reach in the afternoon, are forced to stay back for another day for the ‘neyyabhishekam’ offering.
Hence, they are forced to� stand in the Valiya Nadappandal and the Nadappandal at Malikappuram. The contractors of the remaining pilgrim shelters take advantage of the situation and charge two times higher rates from the pilgrims

No, not at all. No show is bigger for me than my children. It's my daughter's 14th birthday today. Before I entered the show, the production people had agreed to allow me to meet my daughter for 10 minutes, but later I was told that was not possible.
So I asked my fans not to vote for me, so that I could be with my children. As a single mother, I take my responsibilities very seriously and I want to be with them as much as possible.
Do you think the decision to ask Pooja Missra to leave because she was a bit violent was a fair decision?
Siddharth was more violent and louder than Missra. He tried to kick Mehak's butt and just missed it. Pooja just tried to push him.

NEW DELHI: Recuperating from a "non-malignant tumour" in his left lung, flamboyant Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh said he is "absolutely fine" and would be returning to cricket very soon.
The 29-year-old left-handed batsman withdrew from the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies after revealing that he is being treated for a tumour in his left lung.
After his mother Shabnam Singh made the revelation in a formal statement on Saturday, Yuvraj tweeted that he would be returning sooner rather than later.
"Overwhelmed with ur love n support. I am absolutely fine, just need to get match fitness and training will be back soon," he tweeted.
Yuvraj has been troubled by health issues since the World Cup, which India won, and has played just one Test match in England after that.
"Reports and scans then showed us that Yuvraj was dealing with something really serious. A golf-ball size lump was found over his left lung and doctors advised us to go in for more detailed scans."
"The initial reports suggested that Yuvraj had what in medical terms, is called a abnormal tumour called lymphoma over his left lung. The danger was, we were told, that it could be malignant," Shabnam had stated.
"When he returned from England... detailed scanning, and biopsy reports indicated that the tumour is non-malignant and non-threatening and can be treated through proper medication and therapy. In medical terms, Yuvraj is now in a much better state and on his way to a full recovery," Yuvraj's mother Shabnam said in a statement.
Shabnam further said Yuvraj did not want to rush his return to the side and that's why he informed BCCI about his unavailability for the West Indies series.
"Now his entire focus is to re-gain his full fitness. He is already preparing himself to play the one-day series in Australia. He doesn't want to rush things, he wants to be hundred percent fit before resuming his cricket for India."

about cricketer all-rounder ashwin
When Ravichandran Ashwin made his Ranji Trophy debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2006-07 season, he was a confused young man. Bowling was his calling, but he also opened in junior cricket.
He had scored 212 and an unbeaten 40 in an under-17 match (the Vijay Merchant Trophy) against Hyderabad.
But he couldn’t decide what his first-language should be: Finger-spin or batting? Self-effacing to boot, he hesitated to approach his seniors. For the record, Ashwin was dismissed for a duck in his first Ranji match and batted as low as number nine.
Tamil Nadu had a forgettable Ranji season in 2006. They were on the verge of relegation after Karnataka thrashed them by ten wickets. Tamil Nadu coach WV Raman was livid; he asked his boys how each of them would contribute to fashion a turnaround.
They were given time to reflect on it before their next game against Baroda.
A few days later, a typically diffident Ashwin told Raman: “Sir, I think I can bat.” Even this day, Raman can’t resist a smile when he recalls that episode. “Ashwin obviously felt he could bat slightly higher up the order. I didn’t think the timing of his suggestion was right. We had more serious issues to deal with,” Raman told DNA.
Ashwin wasn’t willing to give up. As he grew in stature in domestic cricket, he did his utmost to convince Raman that he had batting potential. Raman had a condition though. “I told Ashwin that he had to get five wickets and a hundred three times to convince me that he’s an all-rounder. If my memory serves me right, he did achieve that on two occasions,” Raman said.
Make it thrice if you include the five-for and 103 against the West Indies in the ongoing Test. “Now I’m expecting him to call me and remind that he’s fulfilled the criterion I’d set for him,” Raman said in jest.
Raman revealed he had a reason to dissuade Ashwin. “I always thought Ashwin could be a good bowling all-rounder. I wanted him to be faithful to his bowling first, for I’ve seen our bowlers focus too much on batting on the placid tracks in India. They’re deluded into believing that they’ve batting potential, which is not always true. In my view, Ashwin could be moulded into an all-rounder. He is a serious talent.”
Railways’ Sanjay Bangar, who had witnessed one of Ashwin’s Ranji hundreds, said, “I’m not surprised he’s got a hundred so early in his career, for he started off as a batsman in junior cricket. He has all the shots, though his strength is driving.”
Some of the attributes were there to be seen on Friday. He was exceptionally quick against spin and often used his wrists to glide the ball between gully and slip. `Kolaveri Di` is absolute nonsense, says Dhanush

Mumbai: Tamil legendary actor Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush is certainly basking on the success of his chartbuster `Kolaveri Di` as it crosses over 8 mn mark on Facebook as one of the most shared songs on the social networking site.
However, Dhanush admits that the lyrics of the song has no meaning and is completely non-sense.
Talking to a daily, the elated national award winning actor said, “It feels nice when people are open with their praise for your work. I honestly didn`t think the song would be such a craze. This has made me realize that people universally want only simple lyrics and simpler tune from filmmakers.”
He believes that simple lyrics are what most people are looking for.
“My poor broken English lyrics, written in a silly tone, and borderline singing has proved to be advantageous for the success of this song.”
“I agree the lyrics is absolute nonsense and is written in Tanglish. That`s probably why people everywhere relate to it,” Dhanush added.
Dhanush is happy about the fact that his song is a roaring success across India and has been liked by stalwarts Amitabh Bachchan and his father-in-law Rajini as well.
“It was nice of Amitabh Bachchan to listen to our song and congratulate us for it. My father-in-law, Rajinikanth, is equally thrilled, and he is proud his daughter Aishwaryaa has come out of his shadow to make a name for herself,” said the actor.
And for those who think other songs in the film `3` are similar to `Kolaveri Di`, Dhanush said, “The other songs in the film are both poetic and simple. I understand that at times, lyrics should make sense.”

- Don't force her to say yes. The worst you can do is to push her around and threaten her dignity. Tell her to take her time and that you shall wait. Be a gentleman and respect her. Incase she doesn't want a relationship; she will let you know of it then and there.
